CHAPTER 9
Dark, dark, dark.
Hard, hard, hard.
Un-natural., supernatural.
Like a river, or an ocean, filled with water… sticky water.
No.
Not water.
Like blood, yet it isn't
Life. It bears it, but not human.
Movement, all around. It lives…
It breathes, doesn't it?
But, it has no lungs… it has no organs.
So hard…
So Sticky…
"Wretched beings"
What? Who was that?
"The time for redemption has passed. Punishment is at hand."
Who is this?
"Wretched beings"
I don’t understand!
"The human’s ring, away has passed. Return to the land."
You seek to destroy us?
"We, we, we, we, we ,we, we, we ,we, weeeeee"
ARGH! So many voices...
...
Silence all about…
I fell them still.
Within this life that englobes us all…
This life…
Only the sounds of water… peace…. Quiet.
This life…
All around me.
Red.
Hatred.
Disdain.
Death…
Leave… leaves in the wind.
No, leaves in the breathing…
Leaves that breathes?
This life…
This tree of life
Is that what I'm in?
"Return to us"
"Live for us"
"Obey us"
"Save us"
"Us"
"Us"
…
"RETURN TO US!"
AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!
“NO!! Leave me be!” Came out the scream, immediately followed by a shriek. Without a second of delay, Grace ran towards Dominic. She knew his throat was the emitter of this spine-tinglin sound.
Dominic lay shivering on the coutch, not by cold, but by terrible fear.
"My dear Dominic, what doth lay within thy head?" She wondered. A question to which she hoped she’d find the answer, soon. She couldn't let herself leave him now, even asleep. She felt the need to comfort him. She knelt beside him, head tilted a bit towards him. She passed her hand gently in his hair, those locks of hair that laid upon his forehead. And he, still remained asleep, but calmer now. As if her mere touch would suffice to calm his angered dreams.
Uncomfortable, she got temporarily back on her feet, only to slide, snake-like into the coutch herself. She found her way within his arms, and embraced him of her own. Her eyes couldn't detach from his tormented face, this lovely face. She didn't even mind the fact that he was still covered in that strange liquid, although a lot of it had dried or evaporated by now.
“Oh… Dominic.” She whispered, tears nearing her eyes “What wretched fate hast befallen thou ? ”
“Grace! There’s news!” Sebastian yelled from the office as he got up to tell her his findings…
