GK1 Walkthrough - Day 2

"A mask I wore as I approached, I was what I am not.
And though the pattern was unclear, its meaning could be bought..."

St. George's Rare Books
That nightmare... again! A woman tied to a pillar that turns into a leopard and a golden talisman stained with blood. And then... a man hanged to a tree, and it's Gabriel... You wake up in your bookshop: Grace is already there, and she has found what you asked her to look up yesterday evening: she has Malia Gedde's address. She'll give it to you (01, 035/342), then she'll return to her work. Have a look at today's newspaper. Nothing new. Gabriel will read also his horoscope for the day:

"Chances of a dark star rising on this day. Do not trust your instinct" (01, 036/342).

That's encouraging, you can dare to do something dangerous: open the cash register (!) and take from it the last 20$ gift certificate left from an unsuccessful marketing action Gabriel tried some time ago (01, 037/342). You have all you need for today. Leave the bookshop and begin your wandering around the city. Start, as you did yesterday, from Dixieland Drugstore: you'll find there an old superstitious woman, M.me Cazaunoux: she's a bit paranoid and practices Voodoo to be sure nobody does her no harm. No points are involved, but you'd better keep in mind her name, in order to find where she lives. Don't even try to get that information from the nasty owner - as you surely have understood, he'll never tell you anything. Now try to go to the

Historical Voodoo Museum
Today there is the owner, dr. John: he's not quite a talkative guy, but he'll tell you everything he knows. Ask him first about "Voodoo". He'll tell you there are different kinds of Voodoo, so first talk about "Historical Voodoo" (02, 039/342), then about "Current Voodoo" (02, 041/342). He doesn't know very much about modern Voodoo, so he'll suggest you to ask Magentia Moonbeam, a Voodooienne he knows that works in the Quarter next to your bookshop. As last topic, ask him about "Marie Laveau", the Voodoo Queen he mentioned during his explanation (02, 043/345).  Now go to the

Police Station
Mosely promised to fill you in the Voodoo Murders case: it's time for him to keep his promise. When you enter the hall, you'll notice a man working on the air-conditioning system. Keep this in memory, it will be useful to do something you need. Ask Frick about "Detective Mosely": he'll tell you he's in at the moment, so from now you have free access to his office. Before you enter, raise the office temperature on the thermostat beside the door (select the "gears" icon, click on the thermostat and move the red point that appears on it to the very right) (01, 044/342). Now you can finally enter

Mosely's Office
Mosely will feel hot and will take off his gold jacket, leaving it on his chair. Ask him to bring you some "Coffee" (you are a coffee addict) (01, 045/342). After some refusing he'll accept and he'll leave the room: exploit this free time to pick up his police badge from his jacket (03, 048/342) - you're not stealing it, just borrowing for some time. When he'll have returned back and you will have drunk the coffee, you can talk with him about the whole case: it's very interesting, but no points are given for that conversation. You're also interested in the pattern you found on crime scene: ask him about the "patterns" and then insist to see the "other six patterns" from the other crime scenes. He'll tell you you can ask officer Franks, the police photograph to show them to you: they're outside his office (01, 049/342). Return to the main hall of the

Police Station
Ask Officer Franks to show you the patterns.

Note: to do so, you have to use the "chat" icon, since Franks won't let you ask her questions.

She'll take the file from the cabinet and will give them to you, but she'll forbid you photocopying them or taking them with you (02, 051/342). Don't worry: you have a secret resource: give the file back to her (select it in your inventory, then select the "object" icon and click on Frank's desk) and return back in

Mosely's Office
Ask Mosely about "photos". Convince him that "A cop/author photo might be nice". It's for the book you want to write, of course. He'll call in Franks and you'll take the photo. But when he'll ask if it's all, take the chance and say to him "hold on a sec, while I go check my hair" (02, 053/342): this is your chance to get the files, which are in the same place where the mirror is: the main hall of

Police Station
Take the file from the desk where you left it and photocopy it quickly (select the file in your inventory, then select the "object" icon and click on the copy machine) (05, 058/342). Return the file on Frank's desk (01, 059/342); now you can enter the office and take the photo. When everything is over leave Mosely alone and visit

Jackson Square
In the northeast section of the square there is an architecture student drawing St. Louis cathedral. If you wander around the square for some time and then return there, you'll see the wind ripping the sheet with the drawing off the student's easel: it will fly behind the railing which protects the statue in the middle of the square. Let's help the poor guy (but Gabriel never does anything for nothing: that student will turn out useful): go to the south-west section of the square, where you'll find a kid stepping and a lucky-dog vendor reading a book. The child is certainly small enough to get behind the railing and pick up the drawing, but you must gain his confidence first. Buy a lucky dog from the vendor, paying with the $20 gift certificate (he'll appreciate it!) (select the gift certificate in your inventory, then select the "object" icon and click on the lucky-dog vendor) (01, 060/342). Give the lucky-dog to the stepping kid (select it in your inventory, then select the "object" icon and click on the kid) (01, 061/342): now you can chat with him and ask him to take the drawing for you (01, 062/342). When he'll have done so, go back to the northeast section and return the drawing to the student (01, 063/342). Now you can give him all the seven partial patterns from the crime scenes: he'll try to see if he's able to figure out the complete pattern from them (03, 066/342). Now use the address Grace found out for you and go to the

Gedde Estate
Note: you find the Gedde Estate icon it in the NOMS.

Use the ring on the door to knock (select the "gears" icon, then click on the ring): the door will be opened by the Gedde butler, which will tell you that you can see Malia only if you are there for official business. You can't, of course, tell that you are Gabriel Knight and that you are in love with Malia, but that's exactly why you borrowed Mosely's badge. Show it to the butler and he'll lead you in the Gedde lounge (03, 069/342), where you'll be joined after a few seconds by Malia. Don't waste your time and do immediately what you are here for: "Flirt" with her (02, 071/342). Well, it didn't work exactly how you wished it to... It's enough for today: return to

St. George's Rare Books
Ask Grace to do some "research" for you: you need to find the address of M.me Cazaunoux, because she can surely tell you something important (02, 073/342). It's closing time now: Grace will leave the shop and will go home. This is the end of Day 2.
