GK1 Walkthrough - Day 7

"My last ally laid to waste, I ran towards the light.
I prayed for one to change my path, to give me strength to fight...."

Gabriel's Room
Grace's been trying to wake you up for a while, and now she managed to do so. What a night! Blessed Grace for having followed you last evening! Now there's no time to waste: first of all call uncle Wolfgang to fit him in about the events of the night and about your research: talk about "Tetelo", the "Talisman", "Tetelo's Remains" and "African Homeland" (03, 227/342). The overall situation is darkening, also uncle wolfgang told you to stay low: you surely wouldn't mind having some extra light for dark moments, so pick up your flashlight from the chest of drawers behind your bed (01, 228/342). Now that you're ready walk into the shop.

St. George's Rare Books
Read the newspaper: nothing interesting, except your horoscope, which says

"Wise is the warrior who knows when to fight and when to get the hell out of Dodge" (01, 229/342).

It's the second warning in a short time... Anyway try to fix the situation and go out for a while. What about trying to see Malia? She's not at home, so go to St. Louis Cemetery #1. The Gedde crypt is closed, but the button is now open. Operate it to open the doors and enter the

Gedde Crypt
(02, 231/342). Have you heard that noise? It seemed something like broken glass: and it's dark in here. Someone broke the light bulb. Use the flashlight (select it, then click on the spot you want to light up) (01, 232/342). Have a look around: there are nine coffin drawers, and the one in the middle has a sort of Vévé on it. Open it. You're out of breath: that's your friend Mosely (02, 234/342)! Someone hits you in the dark and Gabriel falls down, losing his senses. When he recovers, open the drawer again: someone moved Mosely's corpse, but there's something left there: his wallet. Pick it up (02, 236/342) and open it: it contains his credit card (01, 237/342). Poor old pal... Anyway he's dead now, and you can do nothing for him. Press the lit red button to exit from the crypt and return to the bookshop and enter

Gabriel's Room
I know you're feeling guilty, but you really need to get out of New Orleans: you can't simply wait until they kill you. Call the "C" Travel Agency (you'll find the number on your phonebook page) and ask "How much for a trip to Rittersberg, Germany?". It's quite expensive, but don't feel guilty and do what you were thinking of: say "Charge it to my Americans Repressed". Gabe will give the operator the number of Mosely's credit card and will buy the plane ticket (05, 242/342). Go in the bookshop to tell Grace you're leaving. Good old Gracie... Exit the bookshop and go to the New Orleans International Airport (you find it on the NOMS) to catch the plane which will lead you to Munich and from there to Schloss Ritter.

Schloss Ritter Hall
You'll find there Gerde, a young maid who helps Wolfgang to keep up the house. Don't waste time by questioning her and notice rather the weapons displayed on the wall next to the staircase, above the stone lion head. Schloss Ritter is yours now, and since you're going to be a Schattenjäger it would be good to get ready for that task. Take the dagger (01, 243/342), then start exploring the castle. First of all go to the right under the archway: it leads to Schloss Ritter Chapel. Look at the six wooden panels displayed on the left and on the right. Perhaps Gerde knows something about them: return to Schloss Ritter Hall and have a full conversation with Gerde, not forgetting to ask her about the "Chapel Panels" and then about the "Initiation Ceremony" (01, 244/342). Well, now that you know that they show the ritual to become a Schattenjäger you can start getting ready for it. First of all take the salt shaker laying next to Gerde (01, 245/342). Continue the exploration of the castle: go upstairs and enter the

Schattenjäger Bedroom
Notice the cabinet next to the door. There is a pair of scissors and an old chamber pot on its top: pick them up (01+01, 247/342). Notice also the display case above the cabinet: it contains a quite old scroll. Take it (01, 248/342), then open the door on the left of the room to continue your exploration. This should be the library, but it seems only a Schattenjäger can enter it: the door is locked. Read the verses above the archway: they state

Nur der Reinste darf passieren,
Dessen Herz ist rein wie Glas,
Dessen Seele rein wie Feuer,
Schreitet hoeher durchs Portal

You'll have to ask Gerde about it: go downstairs to

Schloss Ritter Hall
Ask Gerde about the "Portal Poem" (01, 249/342): the translation is

Only the purest here may pass,
he whose heart is pure as glass,
he whose soul is pure as fire,
through this portal passes higher

our instinct was right: you have to be a Schattenjäger to enter the library, so to start the ceremony return upstairs in the

Schattenjäger Bedroom
do you remember what was pictured on the first panel? Purification. Open the window and wash your hands into the snow (select the "gears" icon, then click on the snow) (01, 250/342). Step two: cutting your hair. Poor Gabe, what a sacrifice! (select the scissors, then click with them on Gabriel) (01, 251/342). It's time to continue the ceremony in

Schloss Ritter Chapel
You still have to do what the third panel requires: put the chamber pot on the altar - its' the closest thing to a goblet you have - and fill it with salt (select the salt, then click with it on the chamber pot). The remaining panels are clear: use the dagger to cut yourself and drop some blood into the chamber pot, then knee (select the "gears" icon and click on the altar) and read the scroll (select it, then click with it on Gabriel). The scroll contains a poem-prayer:

St. George, patron of the light,
who hunts the shadows of the night
upon my blood, I call thee now,
purify me, for I avow
to set my feet upon thy road;
thy sword, I take up for mine own.

Something happened! No, it was just Gerde vacuuming. But you completed the ceremony (05, 256/342), and Gabriel, quite tired,  will go to bed. This is the end of Day 7...
